Man of the moment Aaron Collins has been nominated for the Player of the Round prize in the Vertu (EFL) Trophy.
The Wanderers’ frontman – Saturday’s match-winner with his injury-time strike against Blackpool – is one of four players on the shortlist for the award from the group stage of the competition.
Collins played a key role in helping the Whites top Group D, with three goals in three games.
The Welshman scored his first in a 3-2 win at Barrow before providing the assist with a lovely cross for Victor Adeboyejo to head Wanderers’ equaliser in their second game against Aston Villa.
Collins then got both goals – including a superb long-range strike and a last-minute winner – in Wanderers’ 2-1 win over Fleetwood Town which earned Ian Evatt’s men a home tie against Huddersfield Town in the last-32.
The other players nominated for the award are Wycombe’s Beryly Lubala, Miles Leaburn of Charlton Athletic and Rotherham forward Jordan Hugill.
