Bolton Wanderers can confirm that striker Dion Charles has today completed a permanent move to Huddersfield Town.
Charles, who joined the Whites from Accrington Stanley in January, 2022, has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Huddersfield after the two League One clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for the 29-year-old.
Charles made 149 appearances for Wanderers and scored 57 goals in all competitions – including eight this season – and leaves for a new challenge after twice helping Ian Evatt’s side reach the League One play-offs and win the EFL Trophy in 2023.
Manager Evatt said: “One thing we always endeavour to do – as a Board and football department – is look to make the right decisions for this football club, financially and on and off the pitch.
“We received an offer we regarded as acceptable for Dion and, of course, the player also has a big say in this decision.
“Dion has been a great player for us and we wish him all the best for his future career. We're very thankful, myself included, for everything he has done for us and the goals he has scored.
“But this was a good offer for a 29-year-old and we now have opportunities to bring new players in and progress the team and the squad.”
Wanderers have so far invested in former Peterborough United attacking midfielder Joel Randall since the January transfer window opened and are actively trying to further strengthen their squad in the coming weeks.
