Ian Evatt has been named the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month.

The Wanderers’ boss takes the October prize after guiding the Whites to four wins in their five fixtures – including back-to-back away victories at Wycombe and Charlton – to move towards the League One automatic promotion places.

Evatt topped a shortlist which also included Portsmouth’s John Mousinho, Darrell Clarke of Cheltenham Town and Barnsley’s Neill Collins to win the monthly award in the EFL for a fourth time.

His three previous awards came during his first season in charge at the Toughsheet Community Stadium as he led Wanderers to promotion from League Two.

Evatt - whose side is now third in the table after making it six wins from seven league games at Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday night - said: “I’m really fortunate to be the head of the football department but it is a department, and it takes everybody to put a shift in; my staff, the players, the chefs, everyone.

“It is all for one and one for all here. There's a huge amount of togetherness and we're all pushing in the same direction.

“Everyone puts in an enormous amount of effort to try and make this football club successful, so when I get these awards it’s really for all of us.

“It’s easily said but I genuinely mean that. It’s a massive team effort and the players have to go out and execute our ideas and they’ve been great at doing that of late.

“It's a good marker for how we are doing so far but we know there's a lot more to come. There are still huge amounts of improvement to come at this football club, on and off the pitch, and I know Sharon (Brittan) the rest of the Board, myself and the staff, are all going to fight tooth and nail to make that happen.”

Evatt was selected as League One’s Manager of the Month by a judging panel comprising former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
