Wanderers make five changes to their starting line-up for their FA Cup opener at Walsall.

Boss Ian Evatt rotates his squad on the back of Tuesday night’s League One win at Stevenage - a sixth in eight games - for the first-round tie at the Bescot Stadium.

But it’s still a strong line-up for the Whites as they look to overcome a Walsall side going well in League Two.

Top scorer Dion Charles returns to the starting XI after scoring his seventh goal of the season in the 4-1 success at Stevenage, while Scott Arfield, Klaidi Lolos, Randell Williams and Will Forrester are also handed opportunities.

Central defender Forrester starts his first game of the season after Eoin Toal was added to a lengthy injury list, while Ricardo Almeida Santos’ ever-present record in all competitions comes to end as he is given a breather on the bench.

Conor Lewis, who scored one of Wanderers’ goals in their mid-week FA Youth Cup win at Rotherham, is named among the substitutes, alongside fellow youngsters Sam Inwood, Sonny Sharples-Ahmed and goalkeeper Jack Dallimore with Luke Hutchinson cup-tied after playing for Marine earlier in the competition.

Walsall, who are second in League Two after winning five home league games so far, include ex-Wanderers Liam Gordon and Jack Earring in their starting line-up.

With replays no longer in places, the tie will be settled on the day with extra-time and penalties if required.
