Wanderers take the next step in their pre-season preparations when they go to Chester FC on Saturday.

After a 3-1 win over Curzon Ashton on Tuesday night, the Whites face further National League North opposition at the Deva Stadium (KO 3pm).

Ian Evatt is again likely to utilise all his fit senior players after missing Ricardo Almeida Santos, Dan Nlundulu and Declan John for the win at the Tameside Stadium which came with goals from Josh Dacres-Cogley, Gethin Jones and Cameron Jerome.

And the Wanderers’ boss is looking forward to another good work-out as his side builds towards the start of their League One campaign in three weeks’ time.

“Both Bamber Bridge and Curzon were excellent and gave us a really good test and challenge,” said Evatt.

“Both went out their way to make sure we got what we needed out of those games, so huge thank-you to those two.

“As we go on the opposition will get stronger as a we progress through. It’s another step forwards on Saturday against Chester and hopefully the performance will match that.”

Chester will be playing the first home fixture of their pre-season programme – after two away wins - as they build towards their season opener on 5 August.

The Seals finished third in National League North last season before losing to Brackley Town in the semi-finals.
