Wanderers make the short trip back to Chorley to continue their pre-season preparations.
The Whites meet the National League North side at their Victory Park ground on Tuesday night (KO 7.30pm).
It will be a third summer outing for Ian Evatt’s men ahead of their home double-header against Serie A side Fiorentina on Friday night and Championship outfit Stoke City on Tuesday, 30th July.
Wanderers have already faced two Championship sides as part of their pre-season schedule, starting with a 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion before losing 3-0 at Middlesbrough last Saturday.
The depth of Boro’s squad proved the difference in the North-East after Wanderers had impressed in the opening 65 minutes and Evatt is again likely to be without a number of injured players at Chorley.
But with the focus on being fit and firing for the opening day of the League One season on Saturday, 10th August, the game against the Magpies will prove another useful step along the way as the sides play for the Harold Taylor Memorial Trophy, won by the Whites with a 3-1 win in the last meeting two years ago.
Chorley – under the management of former Stockport, Blackpool and Bury striker Andy Preece – went close to promotion back to the National League for the first time since 2019/20 last season.
After finishing fourth in National League North, Preece’s side won their play-off quarter-final tie but then lost 1-0 to Brackley in a semi-final shoot-out to remain in the sixth tier of the English pyramid.
So far in pre-season the Magpies have beaten Alicante City, Ashton Town, Squires Gate, Euxton Villa and Bradford City and drew 0-0 with Wigan Athletic last Friday night.
Supporters attending Tuesday night’s game are encouraged to buy tickets in advance HERE but can also purchase them on the night from the ticket booth in the car park outside the main gate at Victory Park.
