FRIENDLY PREVIEW: Salford City v Wanderers

Salford preview

Wanderers face EFL opposition in public for the first time as part of their pre-season build-up when they go to Salford City on Saturday.

The Whites beat Bradford City 5-2 in a behind-closed-doors game on Tuesday when all five senior strikers were on target.

Captain Ricardo Almeida Santos also returned to action following illness in that game at Lostock and is likely to continue to step up his match fitness against Bradford’s League Two rivals, who drew 2-2 against West Bromwich Albion at their Peninsula Stadium on Wednesday night.

Unbeaten Wanderers have sold out of their allocation of tickets for the game at Salford (KO 3pm) in the Whites’ final away-day friendly, which may also see a first involvement for new loan signing Zac Ashworth.

The traditional pre-season fixture at the Skuna Stadium kicks-off at 12 noon to allow fans to potentially watch both pre-season games.

Matt Craddock’s youngsters have also enjoyed an unbeaten start to their pre-season build-up.

The B Team won 5-2 at Longridge Town on Tuesday night and now face a second test against Northern Premier League top-flight opposition after previously drawing 1-1 at Lancaster City.
