Wanderers take on Premier League opposition tonight (Tuesday) as they return home for the final leg of their pre-season preparation.

Everton are the visitors to the Toughsheet Community Stadium for a 7.45pm kick-off.

And with Championship side West Bromwich Albion then arriving on Saturday, Wanderers’ boss Ian Evatt is looking forward to two top-class friendlies to end the Whites’ warm-up campaign.

“We’re not making it easy for ourselves against Everton and West Brom. But we want to be challenged and tested,” said Evatt, whose side has been unbeaten in their first five pre-season fixtures.

“It’s great to be challenged against top-tier teams like Everton and West Brom are a good team in their own right as well.

“We’ve built nicely through pre-season to date. There are lots of things we are doing right and some things we still need some work on.

“We’re looking forward to both of those games and excited to see what we can do.”

Wanderers will be without striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, who picked up a hamstring injury in Saturday’s 2-1 win at Salford City, while defender Eoin Toal is still working his way back to fitness following an ankle injury.

However, Wanderers’ latest recruit, forward Carlos Mendes Gomes, may get a taste of the action after becoming the Whites’ seventh summer signing with his arrival from Luton Town.

Everton are also expected to bring a strong side with three games to go before they start their Premier League campaign at home to Fulham – a week after Wanderers’ kick-off against Lincoln City on Saturday, 5 August.

The Toffees, led to safety in the top flight under former Burnley boss Sean Dyche on the final day of last season, started their pre-season programme with a win over Stade Nyonnais at the end of a training camp in Switzerland.

Everton then fielded two sides on Saturday in a 1-1 draw at Tranmere Rovers and a 1-0 win at Wigan Athletic where summer signing and former England international Ashley Young scored his first goal for the club.

Tickets for tonight’s game are still on sale to official club members, priced £10 for adults and £5 concessions and available to buy HERE
