Wanderers are firmly up and running at their pre-season training camp in Portugal.
Boss Ian Evatt and his squad flew out at the end of last week to again spend a week in a top-class venue on the Algarve to begin their preparations for the new campaign.
The Whites are making the most of the facilities – and the weather – to train twice a day in the gym and on the grass as they build up their fitness and re-set for the coming League One season after just missing out on promotion last season.
Evatt explained: “We travelled over on Friday and did some more testing on Friday and Saturday before we went out as a team for some time together as a bonding session and then the work proper has started this week.
“It's been tough but the application has been excellent. We discussed Wembley and then we’ve had to park it because that's how we move forward and there seems to be a real positivity and desire about us.
“They know this is where the majority of the work for the season is done, especially in terms of fitness and confidence in your body and I have been delighted with the application so far.”
New signings Chris Forino and Klaidi Lolos have quickly settled into the group, along with goalkeeper Luke Southwood, who has been working with the injured players as he completes his recovery from a leg injury sustained at the end of last season.
Dion Charles is continuing his rehabilitation from the knee problem that affected him during the run-in to last season, while Randell Williams – who was ruled out of the play-off final defeat at Wembley with a foot injury – Jack Iredale and Carlos Mendes Gomes are also currently restricted to gym work.
“We’re carrying over some historical stuff from last season, which isn't ideal,” Evatt added. “But it's important they stay integrated with the rest of the group and everyone's in it together so that when we get them back they're ready to go.
“Dion is probably ahead of the others. Randell will probably miss the start of this season but Dion, Jack and Luke Southwood should all be okay, while Carlos is obviously more long-term.”
