On Sunday, Bolton Wanderers in the Community welcomed 1,600 participants to the Toughsheet Community Stadium for this year’s Bolton Community 10K and the first-ever Family 2K Fun Run, supported by headline sponsor Vital Energi.
The event was designed to encourage people of all ages and fitness levels to get active, whether running, jogging, or walking. The introduction of the Family 2K Fun Run gave the chance for younger participants and families to join in and highlighted the charity’s commitment to supporting active lifestyles across Bolton.
The day began with the Family 2K, where over 400 children aged 4 to 16 took to the course, setting off from the stadium at 8:45am. Following that, 1,200 runners and walkers lined up for the 10K route, which led participants from De Haviland Way to The Retreat and back to finish at the home of Bolton Wanderers.
Ben Lawton, Deputy CEO of Bolton Wanderers in the Community, said: "The Bolton Community 10K is a testament to our charity’s commitment to providing positive opportunities for local residents. Using the power of our football club to bring people from across the North West together to promote positive physical activity is a testament to our ethos of One Club. One Community. One Town.
"The introduction of the Family 2K Fun Run shows our charity’s commitment to expanding and developing opportunities for our community. Promoting positive physical activity across all ages aligns with our mission to use the power of Bolton Wanderers Football Club to inspire, support and deliver positive change, creating sustainable pathways that transform lives."
Once over the finish line, participants were invited pitch side to mark the occasion with photos and celebrate their efforts. Injury Mechanics were also on hand throughout the morning, offering free sports massages and sharing useful tips on injury prevention.
