The midfielder was instrumental in Wanderers' second half fight back, scoring the Whites' first goal of the afternoon just a few minutes after half time.
Dion Charles threaded a ball through for Dempsey who beat his man and expertly curled into the far corner with his left foot which lifted the mood around the stadium.
Wanderers went on to score again through Szabolcs Schön but couldn't quite find the desired winner.
