Lofty The Lion Taking On Epsom Downs Mascot Race

Lofty

Our very own Lofty the Lion is in for a challenge when taking part in the 2024 Epsom Downs Mascot Race on this upcoming Bank Holiday weekend.

In its fourth annual year, the race takes place Epsom Downs Racecourse with mascots from a range of sports and businesses come together to battle it out - all in the name of a fantastic cause.

The race was started back in 2021 in memory of Geoff & Jenny Smith/Denys Hutson, who for years organised events raising money for charity, mainly The Children's Trust Tadworth. This race is a lasting legacy in their memory and continuing their amazing work.

The Children’s Trust is the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injuries. They deliver rehabilitation, education and community services through skilled teams who work with children and young people, as well as their families. They are based in Tadworth, Surrey very close to Epsom Downs Racecourse, where the race is staged.

They provide brain injury information in an understandable language and hope that parents, teachers and families find it helpful on their on-going journey following a child's brain injury.

The race is on Epsom Downs' Family Fun day on Bank Holiday Monday (26th August) and gets underway at 1pm - and this year, Lofty is in the line-up looking for victory!
