Match Preview Bristol Rovers

Wanderers head to The Memorial Stadium this weekend to take on Bristol Rovers with the aim of making it back-to-back wins this week.

Tuesday's comeback victory over Mansfield Town thanks to goals from Dion Charles, Victor Adeboyejo and John McAtee got Wanderers back to winning ways ahead of Saturday's clash.

The Memorial Stadium has been a happy hunting ground in recent times for the Whites having won their last four games that they have played there. Former Rovers man Aaron Collins was on the scoresheet last time out as Ian Evatt's side came away with a 2-0 victory.

Bristol Rovers currently sit 16th in the table on the back of a heavy 3-0 defeat away at Leyton Orient on Tuesday night, so the hosts will be looking to right the wrongs back in front of their home crowd.

Manager Quotes

Ian Evatt: "We know we haven't played our best football yet. We've played good football. We've done it in spells in games, but we haven't done it consistently enough for my liking so far which I see as a positive because if we can get to those levels more consistently, we're going to continue to win games because we have proved we can. We are winning games at the moment and we have to keep going.

“We've won eight out of the last 12 which is a pretty good record. Just our mindset at the moment is focused on the next game and on Bristol Rovers."

Bristol Rovers Boss Matt Taylor: "They are one of the strongest teams in the league. They missed out in the Play-Off final last season; they’ve always been in and around it at this level. What happened at the end of last season probably affected them at the start of this season.

"But recently, they’ve picked up form, hit the back of the net, found consistency, built on their style, structure and personnel that they have had for a long period of time and strengthened."

Team News

Midfielder Josh Sheehan has required a scan with a potential hamstring injury, but Captain George Thomason returns to the squad after sitting out Tuesday' victory over Mansfield Town with a suspension following the midfielder's accumulation of five yellow cards.

For Rovers, Promise Omochere is still on the sidelines with a broken hand after initially returning from an ankle injury last month.

Experienced right-back Jack Hunt will also miss out due to a tear in his calf and won't return until after Christmas having not played since their Emirates FA Cup First Round victory over Weston-super-Mare.
