The B Team looks to add to its opening point in the Central League Cup when they host Huddersfield Town B this afternoon (Tuesday).
The young Whites kicked off their Group B campaign with a 2-2 draw at Stockport County Reserves last month.
Stockport have since enjoyed a 4-0 win over Salford City’s second string to sit top of the group, with Huddersfield currently in second spot thanks to a 5-1 win over Rotherham’s reserves in their opening game.
The winners of the four groups in the competition will advance to the semi-finals, with Wanderers – beaten 3-2 in a friendly by AFC Fylde a week ago – hoping to keep their hopes alive with a positive result against the Terriers.
Academy head Dave Gardiner will again lead the Whites, alongside player-coach Andrew Tutte, following Matt Craddock’s interim move into the first-team coaching staff.
Wanderers will be without Nelson Khumbeni and Max Conway - who helped Fylde advance in the FA Cup last weekend with a fourth qualifying-round win over Leek Town - and Gez Sithole, who is also gaining first-team experience out on loan in the National League with Altrincham.
Kick-off at Wanderers’ Lostock training ground is at 2pm with the match open to spectators.
