U18s Preview | Wanderers v Bradford City

Wanderers' U18s group are back in league action this weekend as they look to stretch their
unbeaten start to the season to 12 matches in all competitions having not lost a match since
April.

Julian Darby’s young Whites currently sit second in the Youth Alliance table with Lincoln City
sitting top - although Wanderers have a game in hand - with both sides sitting on 13 points.

Wanderers suffered a slight stumble in their last league match at Lostock with the side 2-0 to the good against Wrexham, however, the visitors completed a second-half comeback to take a point back to Wales.

However, victories against Stockport County, Accrington Stanley, Walsall and Blackpool have provided Darby’s side with a solid start to the new league season.

A trio of Wanderers U18s were involved in the first-teams Bristol Street Motors tie against Aston
Villa midweek, with David Abimbola and Conor Lewis named amongst the substitutes, with
wing-back Harrison Rice making Ian Evatt’s matchday squad as 19th man.

Head of Academy, Dave Gardiner, said: "The Academy Scholars have made a very good start to their season both in the league and in all cup competitions.

"Currently unbeaten in all competitions, the players are determined and motivated to keep this going as long as they can. Nobody is getting complacent and both the players and staff are working even harder on and off the pitch to give the players the best chance for further success.

Everyday, our focus is to maximise each individuals potential but at the same time it’s also important to develop winning BWFC players.

"We may only be just over two months into the season, but we want remain competitive on all fronts.

"Tomorrow (Saturday) is a different challenge for us as Bradford have only just come into our games programme this season. It is going to be a tough test for us but we will approach the game the same as we always do."

Kick-off at Lostock is 11am. Supporters are advised that there is no parking available on site and are asked to arrive no sooner than 15 minutes before kick-off.
