This November, we are proud to once again join football clubs across the country to show our support for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal, and we are giving you the chance to get your hands on a match-worn shirt from this weekend's game.
To demonstrate our commitment to the charity, we have chosen to include the emblem of a poppy in the design of the shirts issued for our upcoming fixture against Blackpool during the period of Remembrance.
These poppy-adorned shirts will be made available to Wanderers fans through an exclusive digital auction by CLICKING HERE, with the proceeds raised being donated to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
Supporters should note that the link for the Blackpool fixture will only go live at kick-off on Saturday (3pm on Saturday 11th November), with the auction ending on 26th November at 3pm.
Adding to the value of these shirts, each one will be individually signed by the respective player who wore it, making it a unique piece of sporting history.
The Royal British Legion
The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal takes place from Thursday 26 October until Remembrance Sunday on 12 November. Every year the RBL leads the nation in Remembrance across the UK to honour the contribution of our Armed Forces community, past and present.
Since it was first worn as an act of Remembrance just over 100 years ago, the red poppy has become an enduring symbol of support for our Armed Forces. Remembrance unites people of all faiths, cultures, and backgrounds.
This year, the iconic poppy has been given a make-over and is now completely plastic-free and easily recycled. The new poppy, which has been revamped for the first time in 28 years, is made entirely from paper, no longer has a single-use plastic stem or centre and can be recycled through ordinary household recycling collections.
Every donation to the RBL’s Poppy Appeal raises vital funds to support the Armed Forces community all year round and ensures their unique contribution is never forgotten.
