Bolton Wanderers are delighted to officially announce the launch of the club’s Youth Advisory Group, in conjunction with Bolton Wanderers Supporters Trust.

Fan Advisory boards were nationally recommended by the Fan Engagement Standards and Wanderers are delighted to introduce the BWFCYAG to provide an added vital link between the Football Club and our fanbase.

The Wanderers Youth Advisory Group have met twice since the launch in December 2024 at the Toughsheet Community Stadium in previous months, with 20 representatives from eight local schools, colleges and youth organisations in attendance – helping to provide a voice for the younger BWFC fan and ensure the club is fully informed when making decisions that will impact the club’s supporter base.

At the first meeting, joint Interim CEOs of Bolton Wanderers, Phil Mason and Niaz Shazad, were present from a club perspective to give their full support to the project, along with members from Bolton Wanderers Supporters Trust and Bolton Wanderers in the Community.

The Youth Advisory Group met for the second time this week, with the BWFCYAG given specific focuses on the night. A huge part of the evening for the YAB was to consider how the club and BWitC can reach out and engage with younger supporters of Bolton Wanderers moving forward, as the next generation of the Football Club’s supporter base as well as diversifying our support.

The representatives were also asked to consider the club’s ‘One Club, One Community, One Town’ ethos by Phil Mason, and how we can enhance that message across the local area for younger generations.

With a number of potential ideas suggested during the evening, these will now be formalised into plans and put forward to both the club and Bolton Wanderers Supporters Trust in due course, before being communicated to supporters.

Phil Mason, joint Interim-CEO of Bolton Wanderers and Chief Executive Officer of Bolton Wanderers in the Community, said: “As a club, we are always looking at ways in which we can engage with our supporter base, and the introduction of the Youth Advisory Group is the next step in that process.

“It has been an incredibly successful first couple of meetings, with lots of positive conversations had to get the ball rolling on what we hope will be a fruitful and worthwhile initiative.

“With regular meetings scheduled in, the hope is that this will be a staple in the steps of communications, and a way for us to get detailed feedback from the people who matter  most – our supporters.

“It’s especially important that our younger supporters feel valued and have a voice within our football club, so we look forward to working with them on a number of projects moving forward.”
