Women Add Neishai Gordon In Another Statement Signing

Bolton Wanderers Women are delighted to welcome Neishai Gordon to the club, in another statement signing for Myles Smith’s side.

Gordon joins Wanderers after time spent training in Belgium with Champions League hopefuls Standard Liège Women, but makes the decision to join the Women’s side to help build on the positive start made to the league campaign – sitting top of the table with seven wins from seven.

Neishai started her footballing journey in an elite academy system in the form of Manchester City Women, aiding her development as an attack-minded player with the ability to excel in any position across the front-line.

After five years within their setup, Gordon left Manchester City to join Blackburn Rovers Women, where she would link up with fellow Wanderer Faye Knox in their youth setup before moving on this summer.

With an eye for both goals and assists and the ability to excite supporters with her attacking flair, Neishai had a number of clubs - at higher levels of the pyramid - chasing her signature.

But having spent time training with the first team squad in recent weeks, Neishai has decided to make Wanderers Women her home and will no doubt add competition and strength-in-depth to an already talented forward line.

On joining Wanderers, Neishai said: “I’m so excited, it’s another part of my journey and I can’t wait to get started.

“I love everything that is happening here and the direction in which the club is trying to go. What they are doing and the way the team plays suits me and the environment I want to be in moving forward.

“The main part of my game is to make sure it’s exciting. I always watched those players growing up and I like to try and do the same and bring that energy whenever I step on the pitch.

“There’s a great group here and I’ve seen it over the last few weeks and it’s been a flying start for them. I’m so excited to work with them - they’ve all been so friendly and I can’t wait to get going.”

Myles Smith, Manager of Bolton Wanderers Women, said: “Neishai has been training with us for quite a while after a spell with a European club.

“She’s a player that has come through a top academy in the form of Manchester City and has experience at a high level and she’s someone that will excite supporters.

“Neishai is an attacking player who likes the ball at her feet and can play anywhere across the front line. It is massive credit to this Football Club for putting in the work to make Bolton Wanderers Women an attractive offer for a player of her calibre.

“People are seeing what we are doing here and the project that we are building. We know it will take time, but the players who are joining us now are hopefully here for the long-term. As I’ve said, it’s a credit what we have all built in a short space of time and shows that it is rivalling some of the programmes that are being run at Tiers 2 and 3 of women’s football.

“We have players here that are getting offers at that level every month and they’re choosing to keep on this journey with us - with praise needing to go to the collective on what we’re doing on a weekly basis that makes players want to be part of this exciting project.”

Neishai goes straight into contention for this weekend's game against Radcliffe FC Women on Sunday afternoon.
