Women's Preview | Blackpool v Wanderers

women's team

Bolton Wanderers Women are back on the road this weekend when facing Blackpool FC Girls & Ladies on Sunday afternoon, kick-off 2pm.

Myles Smith's side go in search of a 10th consecutive league victory to continue their perfect record to open the campaign - a run that sees them sit top of Division One North of the North West Regional Women's League

The Whites head into this fixture against Blackpool with a refreshed and re-energised squad, with last weekend's free schedule and consequently progression in the County Cup coming at an ideal time to prepare the squad ahead of a testing run of fixtures before the Festive Period.

Last time out, Wanderers were dominant against Radcliffe FC two weeks ago, running out 6-1 winners at the Dreams2Reality Stadium with Jess Lightfoot (2), Eleanor Seals, Eboni Bradshaw and Faye Knox amongst the goals.

However, as referenced by manager Myles Smith in interviews on Wanderers TV following the game, Wanderers will be looking to put together a more accomplished and improved performance this weekend to ensure they secure the three points away from home.

Ahead of this weekend, Myles Smith said: "Blackpool are a team that haven't probably had the results that they would have wanted. But in almost every game they've played, they've just missed out on results.

"But they're a team that will come out and press us high and put pressure on us. So we have to make sure that we are moving the ball well and controlling it.

"But we're capable of that and handling teams coming at us because the way we play and the players we have, it's something that suits us and we're confident of doing that.

"We're the side that people want to beat now - given our 100% record - and every team wants to be that team that upsets that record, and that will be the same for these next four fixtures before the Christmas break."

Facing the Tangerines for the first time this season, Wanderers will come up against a side sat in 10th position - just outside the bottom two. They arrive into Sunday's game looking for their first victory in five, with their last league outing being a 5-2 defeat to Penrith two weeks ago.
