It was an afternoon to remember for Bolton Wanderers Women on the Fylde coast as they ran out 9-0 winners over Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies Reserves to go top of Division One North of the North West Regional Women's League.
Hat-tricks from both Charlotte Tyers and Madison Hardman helped Wanderers on their way in a dominant victory as Myles Smith's side made it three wins from three at the start of the season.
Wanderers started the game strongly with intent and purpose both in and out of possession and flew out of the blocks in search of the opener. Within four minutes, they were in front as outstanding set-up play from vice-captain, Eva Williams allowed Charlotte Tyers to apply the finish.
Millie Smith's creativity shone throughout, linking well with debutant Nia Wharton throughout the first half as Wanderers went looking for more goals. The hosts were struggling to contain Bolton with continuous pressure and Eleanor Seals came close to extended the lead when almost converting from a corner, only to be denied nicely by the Fleetwood 'keeper.
Wanderers could have easily been a number of goals up within the first half an hour, creating lots of chances, but just needing more composure in front of goal to reflect their dominance in the scoreline.
On the 34th minute, Tyers doubled the Whites' lead when capitalising on an opportunity within the box to claim hers and Wanderers' second.
Tyers was at the heart of everything good for Wanderers and after winning a free-kick in a dangerous position, Seals forced the Fleetwood keeper into a brilliant save before Jess Lightfoot, on dual-registration from Everton, was then denied by the post. Despite this, Wanderers went into the break in positive mood.
The momentum Wanderers had as they finished the first half continued in the second as Millie Smith scored five minutes after the interval, assisted by skipper Katie Holt, to make it three.
Tyers deservedly grabbed her hat-trick just past the hour mark and saved her best finish until last. Beating a Fleetwood defender with an incredible piece of skill, the attacking midfielder had enough awareness and composure to then slot past the keeper with her left foot.
Four become five just minutes later when Maisy Mitchell extended the lead further with a powerful header from a pin-point Tyers' corner. With the game seemingly won, Myles Smith's side were in confident mood and went looking for more goals.
Madison Hardman grabbed her first goal of the afternoon when applying a clinical finish to a skilful Maisy Mitchell run, with the latter beating a number of Fleetwood defenders before teeing up Hardman.
Wanderers were in free-flowing mood with twenty minutes to go and Millie Smith grabbed her second of the afternoon when getting on the end of a perfect defence-splitting pass from Seals to make it seven.
The Whites added to their tally once more when Hardman grabbed her second - and Wanderers' eighth - just two minutes later. A wonderfully threaded pass from Olivia Ball was on the mark, and the forward remained calm to fire past the keeper.
Wanderers were not finished, and their final score of the afternoon was from the penalty spot after Hardman was fouled inside the penalty area. Maddie picked herself up to take the spot-kick herself, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way with a confident finish to grab her hat-trick and to round off a statement victory.
The turnaround continues to be quick for Wanderers with another away game coming in midweek in the form of Hindley Juniors Women on Thursday evening.
On the back of three wins, three clean sheets and 16 goals scored, Bolton Wanderers Women will make the short trip next week in confident mood.
