Bolton Wanderers Women continued their winning start to the league campaign when securing a 6-1 victory over Radcliffe FC Women on Sunday afternoon, a game in which Wanderers showcased both their character and attacking prowess.
With captain Katie Holt missing, Myles Smith made two changes from the side that beat Hindley Juniors Women last week, with Olivia Ball coming into the starting line-up alongside Faye Knox - who made her debut for the Whites after signing last month.
Neishai Gordon, who signed earlier this week, was named amongst the substitutes, with Lexi Williams taking the armband in Holt's absence.
The match got off to a chaotic start for Wanderers, with Radcliffe starting on the front foot and looked to be the side most likely to open the scoring.
Just two minutes in, a square ball across goal that fell perfectly for Sophie Coates was mis-cued, giving the away side a let-off - but a wake up call to the threat the hosts carry.
Radcliffe did not have to wait long to prove the above true, as Molly Kay beat on-rushing keeper Annabelle White in a one-on-one after a nice ball in-behind Wanderers' defence to put them ahead.
But the Whites were quick in their response and within a minute, they were level.
A Charlotte Tyers corner found Caitlin Clarke, who brilliantly came through a number of bodies inside the penalty area to emphatically power a header home and score her first goal of the campaign.
Back on level terms, Wanderers went in search of more, with Faye Knox at the centre of all things good for Wanderers down the right-hand side. The former Blackburn player capitalised on some loose defending following an Eleanor Seals' pass put her through, but a good save from Isobel Prince denied her.
Bolton had now taken control, and after a couple of half chances had fallen Jess Lightfoot's way to emphasise her ever growing influence in the game, Wanderers' top goalscorer added to her tally on 21 minutes.
Set up brilliantly by a weighted Tyers' through-ball, Lightfoot nipped in before the defender to break and finish well past Prince to give Wanderers the lead.
Knox continued to shine, and emphasised that with a debut goal to remember. After a dynamic run from the right-hand side - beating three defenders in the process - Faye found the bottom corner from the edge of the area with a fine finish to extend the Whites' lead to 3-1.
Radcliffe continued to test Wanderers at the other end, however, forcing Annabelle White into a couple of saves as well as a corner that clipped the crossbar, but they struggled to find their rhythm. By half-time, Bolton were firmly in command with a 3-1 lead.
The interval saw the latest Wanderers addition in Gordon make her first appearance and would prove to have a huge impact later in the half.
The second 45 started with both teams exchanging efforts, with Isha Mundell hitting one from 20 yards which White was safe behind, before outstanding, tenacious work from Wanderers skipper Williams in shrugging off three Radcliffe defenders opened up the space for Lightfoot to hit - hitting the crossbar and going over in a narrow escape for the hosts.
Wanderers did not have to wait long, however, to edge further in front as Knox's effort agonisingly came back off the post, only for Nia Wharton to react outstanding well to turn the ball back across goal for Tyers to apply a simple finish.
Wharton's influence was continuing to grow on Wanderers' left following her introduction in the second half, and went from provider to goalscorer with 15 minutes remaining.
A deep free-kick from Seals caused chaos inside the Radcliffe area, and Wharton was on-hand at the far post to expertely finish to score Wanderers' fifth in a dominant display.
With time winding down Knox continued to impress on debut, driving to the byline before setting up Tyers for a volley that went over the bar.
But another debutant would have the last say as Gordon got herself on the scoresheet. Emme Shone - who had a massive impact in the middle of the park off-the-bench - played a beautifully weighted ball over-the-top that was perfect for Gordon to take in her stride.
Neishai brought it under control, rounded the keeper and tapped into an empty net to perfectly seal victory for Myles Smith's side to claim their eighth straight league victory and extend their lead at the top of the table to six points.
