Bolton Wanderers Women ran out convincing winners on Sunday afternoon in a 9-0 victory over Hindley Juniors Women to go top of the table at the Dreams2Reality Stadium.

Jess Lightfoot - on dual-registration from Everton - grabbed four goals as Myles Smith's side went in search of a seventh straight victory following their exit to higher league opposition in Tranmere Rovers in the Women's FA Cup last time out.

Wanderers made two changes from the aforementioned cup tie, with Maisy Mitchell and Caitlin Clarke - in for her first Whites start - taking the place of Hannah Baldwin and Millie Smith.

Wanderers started with intent, and immediately went in search of the opening goal against a side they struggled against in victory earlier in the campaign.

Within two minutes, they had the lead as Jess Lightfoot showcased her pace and skill by beating the offside trap and firing a powerful shot past the 'keeper.

As the game progressed, Wanderers looked to extend their advantage. First, Caitlin Clarke delivered a through ball that Milla Hodson chased down, but her shot went wide. Then, Charlotte Tyers had a close-range attempt saved by the keeper, keeping Hindley in the game.

Charlotte Tyers continued to exploit the high defensive line of Hindley, sending a through ball that allowed Milla Hodson to drive down the left. However, her shot was also denied by D'arcy in the Hindley goal.

Lightfoot appeared to double the lead when she stabbed home an Eleanor Seals free-kick that was turned back across goal at the far post, but the flag was raised for offside.

Undeterred by this, Wanderers got their reward as Milla Hodson soon found the net with a brilliant volley from a precise Eboni Bradshaw cross, pushing the score to 2-0.

Wanderers continued to apply pressure, with a lovely combination between Maisy Mitchell and Chloe Ardin setting up Tyers for another chance, only for an offside call to deny them.

Despite the pressure, Hindley put pressure onto Annabelle White who had to be alert to turn a powerful effort from Lauren Barkley around the post. The relentless Wanderers went back on the attack, and it paid off as Lightfoot added her second goal shortly after, taking full advantage of a well-placed ball from Eleanor Seals to find the back of the net.

Wanderers maintained their dominance with pinpoint passing, resulting in another close call when Bradshaw was denied by a good save from the Hindley keeper.

Lightfoot, who was in everything good for Wanderers in the opening 45, attempted a tight-angle shot that was well handled by the keeper, but a corner soon followed.

From it, Caitlin Clarke's powerful header was denied by the post, before Lightfoot reacted quickest to tap it over the line, completing her hat-trick just before halftime.

Despite a numbers of attempts on target from Hindley, including a well-placed shot that was saved by White, the half concluded with Wanderers firmly in control at 4-0.

As the second half kicked off, Wanderers made two substitutions, with Liv Ball and Nia Wharton coming on in place of Milla Hodson and Chloe Ardin.

The game resumed with Lightfoot and Tyers combining beautifully, but the latter's shot from a tight angle went over the bar.

Wanderers kept pushing forward and came close to a fifth goal when a Seals' free-kick was fumbled by the keeper, only for Bradshaw’s follow-up to hit the crossbar and bounce over.

But Lightfoot wasn't finished yet and added her fourth goal on the hour, capitalising on a through ball from Holt to finish emphatically.

After her impressive performance and fourth goal, Lightfoot was substituted for Eva Williams.

At wing-back, Bradshaw continued to be a threat, drawing another solid save from the 'keeper as Myles Smith's side were unwavering in their pursuit of more goals.

Tyers lined up a free-kick from 25 yards - that was spilled by the keeper - allowing Katie Holt to tap in the rebound, pushing the score to six.

The goals continued to flow as Ball found Bradshaw - now operating in the forward role - with a perfectly-timed through ball, allowing her to navigate past two defenders and finish well.

Mitchell also made her mark, scoring with a driven finish into the bottom corner to make it 8-0 with 20 minutes remaining.

Hindley struggled to contain the onslaught, with Hodson setting up Ardin for what could have been another goal but her shot went wide.

In the closing minutes, Hodson was involved again, evading the Hindley defence but firing straight at the keeper.

Ball, operating in the middle of the park and impressing immensely, showcased her shooting prowess, first with a long-range effort that clipped the crossbar and went over before another attempt narrowly missed the post.

In the dying moments of the match, Wanderers finished their scoring as Nia Wharton set up Hodson inside the area, who made no mistake in sealing the victory with a ninth goal, bringing the match to a resounding conclusion.

Wanderers remain undefeated, and victory taking them to the top of the league, as they head into a trip to Radcliffe next weekend.
