The Youth Team continues its quest for a league and cup double when they face holders Blackburn Rovers in the semi-finals of the U18 Lancashire FA Professional Youth Cup.
Julian Darby’s youngsters will also be looking to avenge defeat in last season’s final when they face Rovers at their Brockhall training ground tomorrow (Tuesday) morning (KO 11am).
The winners will face Blackpool in the final after the Seasiders beat Burnley on penalties in their last-four clash.
Wanderers are currently leading the way in the U19 EFL Youth Alliance after extending their unbeaten record with a 4-1 win over Port Vale on Saturday thanks to goals from Daeshon Lawrence (2), James Westwood and Harry Leigh.
The Whites have won 15 of their 16 games to head Wrexham, who have played three games more, by a point at the top of the table.
As a Category One academy, Blackburn play their youth football at U18 Premier League level and are currently sixth in the table in the northern group.
Rovers beat Morecambe 7-3 in the last eight of the competition, while Wanderers advanced to the semi-finals with a 4-2 win over Northern Youth Alliance champions Preston, who they face again in the league this coming weekend.
